I hope out there away from the barbed wire they are happy and there is nothing like in here. All of these functions are performed for the achievement of organizational goals. The various functions that need to be covered under HRM include: Identification of staffing needs and methods i.e. whether to go for subcontracting or hiring of employees. This would give a layout as to what type and number of employees are required †¢ Recruitment, selection and training of the employees who undergo the screening process to be part of organization. The effective and efficient HRM has reached to complex stages. Question now arises is that how does technology helps in accomplishments of these purposes and performance of these functions? Technology has not only brought revolution but technology itself has revolutionized and improved then what it used to be at its initiation. Technology has proved an effective blessing in the managerial setup as it has come up with tools that have changed the working of employees, the roles undertaken by them and how they get their work done. Similarly, HRM is facilitated as the HR manager has found tons of utilization of technology for performance of HRM functions. Technology and HRM together combine to form processes and systems that are termed as HR Technology or Human Resource Management System. The combination deals as to merge HR activities and functions with technology tools in form of different data processing and software. The main software in this case is Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software which is standardized software. Through this software a database is established with integration of various kinds of information. This database has Human Resource Module which has given an edge to HRM. HRM requires keeping of records of employees. This has been enabled by HRM system as it has provided with different databases and system through which all past record, activity of employee, his skills, performances and all other relevant information can be stored and accessed to easily. Technology has enabled high automation of the processes and data. This has been achieved by use of mainframe computers and client servers. All this technology is capital sensitive and requires high amount of investment but as the technology improved and there came client servers and Application Service Provider which have given businesses an ease. There are various applications of HRM systems in relevance to HRM functions. There is a payroll module which as an automated payroll system. It supervises the employee’s monthly record, his attendance, taxes, deductions and all other payroll activities. All this is automated and after all the rapid calculations the final amount of pay is deduced. Apart from that there is work time system which facilitates to establish standard work time, gather work time information of every employee and his efforts. There is also benefits administration module which checks the degree of employee performance has contribution and accordingly decides on compensation, insurances, allowances and other benefits. There is an HRM module which covers various activities and aspect of the human resource management cycle from its initial level of applying of an employee to his retirement. This module keeps records of applicants, capabilities and skills, then the selection, training and compensation management. Apart from that most famous application of technology for HRM is the online recruitment system. Through this organizations advertise their vacancies and requirements to attract potential candidates to apply. There is also a Learning Management Software which comes under the training module which is used to cater to the training of employees to see how they improve and develop more towards organizational goals (HR Management, 2010). The above are some of the main applications of technology in the field of HRM. There are many other applications as well which have helped organizations to standardize and improve their HRM departments. Businesses from all the different sectors have utilized the technological aids for their assistance and have yielded more effective and efficient results. Technology and HRM are therefore part and parcel and it is necessary for any organization to adopt innovative technological measures and methods to reap good fruit for its HRM as HRM is the main heart core function of the entire organization. HR Technology in different sectors HRM and Technology, or HR Technology is utilized in different sectors across the globe. Though it has different scope and dimensions which vary from country to country but nevertheless we see HR technology being used in one way or another in different components of these sectors. The main two sectors classified are known as private and public sectors. In simple terms private sector includes business operated by an individual without the state interference and control for profit. In contrast public sector is controlled by the government state and includes services for the citizens. In both sectors we see that HR technology has its dynamics and applications. A special emphasis would be laid on public sector. Private Sector In private sectors there come many educational institutes, health centers, services industry, businesses and many others that are run for profit as well as the well being of the citizens. We see that in all these components of private sectors there is a need to supply of human resources and also important is that these human resources should be managed in form of proper training and other managerial activities. In all of these components, HR technology is witnessed. The first requirement for them is human resource. For this they advertise for recruitment of the potential candidates through online recruitment methods. After this the CVs and resumes of the applicants are gathered online and scrutinized. HR technology helps feeding in the criteria for hiring online and then these CVs are arranged according to this criterion in chronological order. This facilitates selection stage. The mails are generated through this system automatically to the selected candidates. Then these candidates undergo training modules through different learning software which they apply. The record of their compensation and benefits is maintained in form of payroll modules. An entire HRM module is also there which covers all the activities from step 1 to last step. Public Sector As discussed earlier, public sector involves government i.e. it is services provided by the government. Public sector has varying components from nation to nation. Commonly, every state includes military, police, education, healthcare, society services, public education and public roads and transits. In all these components of the public sector there is a need of proper human resources to run these areas and these human resources need to be managed. HRM is seen in the form of government plans for proper execution and setup of HR plans. The most important of these components undoubtedly is health sector which requires highest expenditure on human resources. The human resource in health sector is in the form of administrative and managerial staff, doctors, specialists and lower medical staff. There is software available for health sector. This software performs various HR activities. The software provide various HR solutions in the form of user defined answers to the medical problems as well as it provides integration of the entire HRM system in form of HR solutions, Staff Scheduling, Payroll and covers the entire stages from hire to retire. There are many different examples that can be quoted here such as SAP Environment, Health and Safety Management. This ensures that the Environment, Health and Safety standards are followed properly by the HR and that they comply with it. There are other examples such as Quadrant HR which is also a tool with integrated HR solutions for health care. The use of this HR technology has improved the health sector and has eased the managerial problems. Through this, the chances of errors in staffing and payroll have decreased and also it has reduced operational expenditure for governments. There are other examples as well which show how HR technology has helped the Public Sector. There are public sector organizations on various levels such as provincial, national or international levels that require HRM systems. They require some regulatory standards and develop systems and processes through which these standards can be followed. Apart from that there is need of all the HR activities of managing records of employees, payroll, scheduling, benefit administration and all other related HR work. For this purpose a company PeopleSoft has an HRMS for public sector. This HRMS has enabled the compliance with the regulatory standards and has also fulfilled all other requirements in form of Human Resources, Benefits Administration FSA System, Payroll, Payroll Interface applications and Human Resource Budgeting. Apart from that, their latest release includes a more advanced Web Client and an integrated Online Analytical Processing (The Free Library, 1997). These are few examples which show that how effective the use of technology can prove if the technology is used effectively. HRM and technology work together and together they create a positive impact that is not only flourishing the public sector but all other sectors where there is always application of HR technology. These facts show that the future holds prosperous prospects for HR technology in all the fields of a nation as there will always be a need of human resources and their effective management. The next section of the paper will shed some more light on the future prospects of HR technology. Future of HR Technology The future of HR technology can without doubt be said is good because the conditions around the globe are changing rapidly. The companies must have flexible operating tools at hand to cope up with these changes. Technology offers the element of flexibility and change to the HRM in form of technologically capable adaptive tools and HRM systems. These systems not only offer effective results but also capability to take on these changes and challenges. But there is always a room of improvement which can be made in HR technology as well. Improvements can be brought in the form of implementation of better technology by the time. Whenever there is launch of a new technological package which can be helpful to the companies, they must explore it and try to implement it in a way that would facilitate the HR activities. There can be launch of further tools such as Talent Management tools, Strategic HR planning tools, outsourcing components, better payroll systems, online recruitment system, HRM systems, HR modules and overall an entire HR package. The future of HR technology would have to come up with tools that entail the entire business strategy and accordingly formulate an HR strategy so that it is made sure that organizational goals and HR activities are aligned. This can be possible by developing HRM systems whose processes are not only measurable but they also take it to the entirely different and better level of sophistication. The future of HR technology focuses on bringing together business and believes in the formation of more integrated functionality. There are components like portals, business intelligence (BI) and talent. These components would solely not be very effective, but if they are integrated, their combined effect would yield good results. There must be specific attention towards talent management along with portals and business intelligence which would enhance the future scope of HR technology for the globe (Systematic HR, 2006). There are future projects on hand which incorporate the use of technology to enhance the HRM. The effective implementation of these projects would guarantee success of HR technology in future. Life Essay Example For Students

Life Essay kPeoples lives in this world are full of the good and the bad; happiness and sadness, and through it all everyone decides their own destiny and fortune. In comedies, much of the story is predictable because comedies use the same fundamental characters and ideas. If these characteristics of comedies were applied in real life, the result would be very boring and dull. These qualities include always having a happy ending, stock characters, and fecundity of life. Many times in life, nothing will go the way it was planned. From not receiving a good grade on the last test to not getting the girl, many things in life simply do not go the way they should. Everyone knows this, understands this, and accepts this as a true fact. However, in a comedy, this possibility is not allowed to occur. Whatever is being sought is eventually gained no matter what the odds or consequences. It would be nice to get matters to always work out; however, that would also take away the thrill of achieving a goal against the odds. To reach their goals, many people have to overcome obstacles not sure about what lies ahead or the eventual result. This adds to the pride of finally attaining that goal. If the possibility of failure were removed, then it would take the satisfaction out of accomplishing a goal. Knowing and associating with a diverse group of people makes life interesting. From friends to acquaintances, the many different qualities that people possess make life exciting and different. If everyone were one-dimensional and fit into a certain role life would become very boring because nobody would be different. No one in life has a set role as a miser or lover. Everyone brings their own uniqueness to the world weaving a tapestry of diversity. Fecundity of life means the celebration of life. In comedies the characters are always at big dinners, parties, weddings, or fairs. In real life partying all day and not having to work to earn anything would be great for a while. However, it would soon become tedious as well as unfulfilling. Achieving goals through hard work makes the reward that much better. The satisfaction earned by the time and effort to achieve a goal is much better than having it given with no work. Every day people experience life by finding new challenges and new goals. People meet new members of their community and learn new things. Applying the concepts of comedies to real life would ruin much of the excitement and anticipation life entails. Life is challenging because there is no guarantee of a happy ending. If life were as predictable as comedies, than it simplyWords/ Pages : 447 / 24

Multicultural Psychology

Human beings all over the world are characterized by unique belief systems, perceptions, and attitudes towards life which can be collectively referred to as culture. These different cultures have been found to significantly influence virtually all fields of life especially psychological studies (Hall, 2009). Advertising We will write a custom research paper sample on Multicultural Psychology specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More Various efforts have been made to understand the different cultural orientations. Psychological researchers have investigated culture in relation to psychology resulting in the development of a new field in psychological studies known as multicultural psychology. This research paper provides the definition of multicultural psychology as well as its historical development. It also examines the rationale for the establishment of multicultural psychology as a subspecialty of psychology. The society has always bee n faced with the challenge to understand the different cultures that are practiced by mankind. There has been need to establish a specific field in psychology to provide explanation of these notable differences. Multicultural psychology refers to the systematic investigation, analysis and assessment of human behaviors as they are experienced in surroundings where people of different cultural backgrounds interact (American Psychological Association, 2003). This field is mainly concerned with the understanding of the cultural differences in various aspects of day to day life experiences. These include but not limited to the various thought processes, acceptable versus unacceptable behaviors, and ‘normal’ versus ‘abnormal’ behavior orientations in life. Multicultural psychology has helped in identifying a person within different cultures and also to facilitate interaction between individuals from different cultural backgrounds. In the United States, for inst ance, people from different parts of the world (immigrants) came together to form the present day America. Despite their varying cultures, these people must encounter each other in their day to day life activities. Multicultural psychological researchers, therefore, must take into consideration the aspect of culture during their investigations. Multicultural psychology is one of the most recent and dynamic fields in psychology and has been identified as a crucial component in understanding the role of culture in psychological studies. Over the past 30 years, the study of culture (racial and ethnic) minority issues in the field of psychology has grown to what can now be seen as a significant and dynamic subspecialty in the context of American psychology. Advertising Looking for research paper on psychology? Let's see if we can help you! Get your first paper with 15% OFF Learn More Multicultural psychology is currently considered as the ‘fourth force’ in psy chological studies after the much advanced behavioral, psychodynamic theories, as well as the humanistic approach to psychology (Hall, 2009). Understanding of its historical development is essential. Multiculturalism can be traced to the Civil Rights Movement that started in 1964 in the United States since this event provoked a new way of regarding the people who were initially considered inferior (Hall, 2009). Minority ethnic groups were demanding for equal treatment especially on shelter, education, and employment opportunities. The study of psychology was also affected by this transformation in the society since every field was then culturally diverse yet mutually operational. Prior provisions that guided the practice of psychology were not culturally sensitive until some psychologists pushed for the necessary changes. It was not until the beginning of the 21st century that notable changes were effected. In 2002, the APAs â€Å"Ethical Principles of Psychologists and Code of C onduct† were revised to include the diverse cultural issues (APA, 2003). The American Psychological Association has also established specific provisions for the enhancement of multicultural psychology (2003). There are several reasons why it was necessary to develop multicultural psychology as a unique field of study. With the development of the 2002 guidelines for multicultural psychology, this field has made significant progress as a subspecialty of psychology. Many people in the United States with different cultural backgrounds can interact mutually since they have come to appreciate the fact that the society is multicultural. Groups of people and organizations have their uniquely identifiable belief systems, values, practices, and norms that define them. The understanding of these differences facilitates healthy interactions between people. Moreover, the earlier approaches of studying psychology employed scientific dimensions in understanding human behavior. However, with the emergence of multiculturalism, a lot of emphasis has been put on culture. Subsequent psychologists have not ignored the aspect of culture in their studies. Culture is a very broad concept and some of the variables include: race, ethnicity, gender, sex, and class. Advertising We will write a custom research paper sample on Multicultural Psychology specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More The broadening of perspective of psychological research to include cultural considerations has helped in the elimination of stereotype tendencies. Most of the earlier studies did not consider culture in selecting the participants which implied that the conclusions that were made were not inclusive. Multiculturalism, therefore, has helped in addressing serious problems that could not be dealt with by earlier researchers. Furthermore, the world is increasingly becoming globalized as people continue migrating resulting in multicultural societies. The de velopment of multiculturalism as a subspecialty of psychology has made it easy in conducting investigations in these diverse societies. In fact, psychology is a broad discipline dealing with human behavior in general and hence the need to develop multicultural psychology as an independent field. Understanding the differences that exist among people will also make it easy to provide appropriate interventions for the problems that psychologists face. Multiculturalism has helped in the alleviation of hatred and discrimination (APA, 2003). This subspecialty can be seen as enhancing the fields of psychology since cultural differences are viewed as part of humanity. Individual human beings need to be identified with a unique culture which shares the same interpretations and meanings of life experiences. This implies that psychological researchers must take cultural differences into consideration when carrying out their studies (Hall, 2009). The introduction of multiculturalism, particul arly in the United States, has enriched virtually all psychological investigations. From the above discussion, it is evident that multicultural psychology is crucial in the development of the broad field of psychology. It has significantly helped in understanding human behaviors from a cultural perspective where people with different cultural backgrounds co-exist. Individuals or groups have unique cultures and should be respected as such instead of being discriminated as inferior or otherwise disregarded. This field has a very recent historical background but it has proved to be a notably dynamic field of study. Advertising Looking for research paper on psychology? Let's see if we can help you! Get your first paper with 15% OFF Learn More It is also very important to acknowledge that multicultural psychology has brought numerous benefits on the society as well as the field of psychology in general. We can conclude, therefore, that multicultural psychology is a dynamic subspecialty of psychology that is transforming the way of looking at cultural diversity, particularly in the study of human behaviors. Deanhead essays Preliminary figures from the National Weather Service showed that more than 50 tornadoes touched down throughout the eastern United States. Most of those killed were in Tennessee, where 17 people died. Twelve others died in Alabama, five in Ohio, one in Pennsylvania and one in Mississippi. One storm slammed into the town of Mossy Grove, in eastern Tennessee, cutting a path of destruction about a mile long and a mile wide, officials said. Brenda Stansberry joined her husband in the basement of their Mossy Grove home only minutes before a tornado destroyed the house. When she came out, she said she was shocked to see the destruction. "It's terrible," she said. "I don't know how to explain it. It's like a war zone or worse." The storm hit during Sunday night services at the New Life Apostolic Church in Mossy Grove, badly damaging the church. The storm partially collapsed the building's roof and shattered glass, sending parishioners scrambling under pews for safety. No one in the church was injured. David Gunther said he grabbed his 3-year-old daughter, jumped under a pew and started praying. "When you have a child, you just want to protect them. That was my first instinct," he told CNN. "We got in the doors just in time." Another congregation member, Kevin Davis, said simply, "We were just praying like we had never prayed before. ... God kept his hand on us." Eight people were killed and 14 were unaccounted for in surrounding Morgan County, which is about 60 miles northwest of Knoxville, authorities said. One of those killed was a volunteer firefighter, who suffered a heart attack while searching for survivors in the debris. Four others were killed in their car as they tried to outrun the storm. Across the state, storms wreaked havoc, damaging or destroying hundreds of homes, uprooting trees and knocking down power lines. More than 80 people were injured. How to write an HR generalist resume How do you get hired to be one of the hire-ers? That’s the question facing those of you interested in becoming a human resources professional as a career. Often, we think of HR generalists as part of the machine- reading our resumes, putting together offers, brokering interviews, and sending out benefits statements. But like all other professionals, they have to go through the hiring process too. If you’re thinking about joining the field or are already in it but want to brush up your resume, we’ve got some tips to help you put together your best HR generalist resume.HR generalists are members of a company’s human resources team who manage the day-to-day operations of the department. In a big company, that can mean working as part of a large team. In a small company, it may be more a lone wolf kind of scenario. These professionals manage a variety of responsibilities, including recruiting and staffing, employee relations, employee communication, developing and enforcing company policy, managing compensation and benefits, counseling employees, and generally handling personnel-related issues. That’s a lot going on- and it means that an HR generalist resume has to cover a lot of ground, very effectively.Stand out with a bold headline. If you want your resume to stand out, make sure you’re grabbing attention right away. You’ll have plenty of space to flesh out your professional accomplishments, but starting with a snappy one-liner (or a two-liner) helps you set the narrative right away. You want to make the most of your resume space- and that doesn’t mean cramming more information in there. It means taking the information you have (your skills, your experience, your strengths) and getting the most power out of them. A headline tells the reader up front who you are, as a professional, and what you can bring to them.Your headline should be short and to the point, but not too short. If you write something like, â €Å"Human Resources Professional,† that doesn’t really tell anything. On the other hand, if you add just a little color it tells the reader more about you. It’s a chance to show off your expertise, at least enough to keep the reader’s interest. Here are some great examples:hbspt.cta.load(2785852, '9e52c197-5b5b-45e6-af34-d56403f973c5', {});Certified Human Resources Director with 10+ years of experienceExpert Benefits Manager Employee-Oriented Human Resources CoordinatorProven Leader in Recruiting and Innovative Employee RetentionThe headline isn’t meant to tell your whole work-life story. It’s meant to get the reader interested enough to read on to the skills and experience, which should back up what you include in the headline.Emphasize achievements, not responsibilities.Your resume should be results-oriented, to show the reader that you’d bring that focus to your job in their HR department. Make sure your bullet points show growth an d achievement. If you worked as part of a team that implemented new employee policies, what was the outcome of that? If you helped roll out a new program, what were the results? Obviously, only include achievements with a positive thrust- or spin them a bit.Spearheaded an initiative that improved employee retention by 25% over two years.Innovated new workflows for onboarding new employeesDesigned and implemented an employee wellness program that cut employee sick days by 10%Don’t those sound more appealing than â€Å"processed new employee orientation forms† or â€Å"served on a committee to improve employee retention†? The trick is making sure you’re using potent action verbs to show that you’ve been busy achieving, not just showing up. Keeping the focus on your achievements also shows that you’re goal-oriented.Use the right keywords. As an HR professional, you probably know better than anyone how automated tools and digital systems are shap ing the hiring process. Make sure you’re taking steps to beat that system as well. That means including keywords that can be caught by all readers, human and robot. One way to help boost your keyword quotient is to spell out things you might otherwise abbreviate, assuming that your fellow Human Resources peeps will understand and taking the space for something else. For example: SHRM Certification becomes Society for Human Resource Management Certified. You can abbreviate it elsewhere in your resume, but having it spelled out once can help you with a scanning algorithm. If you’re stuck for key words, read the job description carefully and make sure you’re mirroring the words it uses. You should also make sure you’re sprinkling the key words throughout the resume. It can be tempting to cram them all in a â€Å"skills† or â€Å"core competencies† section, but putting them throughout can help keep the reader’s interest throughout the whol e resume.Make sure you’re up on the latest technology.HR has become a field that is highly dependent on digital tools and databases, so it’s important to know what the big software names are, as well as any trendy apps or programs. Be specific in your Technology Skills section. Everyone’s going to include things like â€Å"Microsoft Office† and â€Å"Excel,† but the more specific you can be about your tech expertise, the better it enhances your resume. Make sure you’re calling software or programs out by name.If you have only passing familiarity with a particular database software, don’t call yourself an expert, but if you have advanced-level understanding, say so. And again, be aware of what the current trends are- if you are a ninja-level master of a program that has become obsolete, that’s not going to do you much good.Give information about the companies where you’ve worked previously. As an HR professional, you know what where you work can tell someone almost as much about your career as what you’ve done. Providing some context for your previous employers can help the reader frame your experience. If you’re trying to show that you already have experience at the kind of company where you’re applying, emphasize the similarities in your background. If you’re looking to get away from the kinds of places you’ve worked before, emphasize whatever qualities you think will translate well. You don’t need to write a novel- a context sentence or two after you identify the company and before you launch into your bullet points works well. For example:Bunco Industries,  2010 – 2017Coordinated benefits management for a multinational company with 1,000+ employees worldwideThe Happiness Fund,  June 2012 – presentServed as the primary Human Resources employee liaison for a nonprofit company devoted to educating baby sealsTogether with your bullets, this i nformation helps shape the narrative about your experience.Make it clear and easy to read.Your resume should be a clean and concise document. That means not having large blocks of uninterrupted text and ensuring that all information you include is essential to the story you want to tell. The layout should be visually appealing (think short bursts of potent text), but also classic- don’t use odd fonts or crazy formatting. And every word in your resume should be carefully read, considered, and tweaked if necessary. Careless mistakes can undo all of your â€Å"I’m detail-oriented† supporting points, so make sure you’re proofreading carefully. Always find a trusted person to look over your resume as well. It can be very difficult to catch your own typos after the third or fourth pass through, but having another pair of eyes can also help you catch points that aren’t clear, or ring false.Working in HR, you know that it’s about the quality of candi dates, not necessarily the quantity of words or experience. Make sure you’re taking that to heart for your own application package, and write a resume that reflects your best work narrative, your strengths, and your goals. Good luck!

Describe the two mendelians laws of inheritance and discuss to what Essay

Describe the two mendelians laws of inheritance and discuss to what extent an X linked genes do not follow mendelian laws - Essay Example The two alternative forms of a factor are known as alleles and the genotype of an individual is made up from these alleles(Mueller et al, 2001) . Thus, every trait is governed by 2 alleles, one maternal and the other paternal. The genetic make up of any cell with reference to a particular trait is known as genotype and any observable trait like color, etc is known as phenotype. The Mendel Laws are based on the above facts and they are described below. The first law is the Law of Segregation, according to which, when an individual produces gametes, each gamete received only one copy of the genes. Thus, a single gamete will receive either one or the other allele. During random fertilization of gametes, the alleles unite again and the product has 2 sets of genes. When a particular gene has both recessive and dominant allelles, incomplete dominance occurs (Nussbaum et al, 2004). The expression of the phenotype is morphed by the expression of berth dominant and recessive alleles (Biology online). The second law is the Law of Independent Assortment. This is also know as the Inheritance Law. According to this law, alleles of different genes undergo independent assortment of one another during the formation of gametes (Jorde et al, 1995). Different traits are inherited independently of each other, with no relationship to each other with regard to inheritance.
